Ernakulam is the vibrant heart of Kochi, and it has history, culture, and natural beauty all together in a blend.

Day 1
Morning: Start with the exploration at Fort Kochi, a historic area with remnants of colonial architecture, including the iconic Chinese fishing nets.
Afternoon: Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, shows Kerala murals and historical artifacts.
Evening: Stroll down Jew Town, a long narrow street lined with old antique shops and the historic Paradesi Synagogue.

Day 2
Morning: Visit the Kerala Kathakali Centre to learn about the style of local dance form Kathakali.
Afternoon: Take a ride by ferry to Vypin Island, and finally enjoy the stretch of Cherai Beach.
Evening: Leisurely walk down Marine Drive - a scenic promenade with beautiful backwater views.

Day 3
Morning: Enjoy an excursion to Athirapally Waterfalls, also called "Niagara of India".
Afternoon: Do a tour around Vazhachal Falls, which are another water falls surrounded by deep green cover
Evening: Return back to Ernakulam. Here, treat yourselves to mouthwatering sea foods at local eateries

Must-haves: Seafood (mainly Karimeen Pollichathu), Appam, Puttu, Kerala meals, and local snacks.
Where to eat: Try restaurants in Fort Kochi, Mattancherry, and Marine Drive. Never be afraid to try local-scale eateries.

Choices: Guesthouses from budget to luxury hotels, especially in Fort Kochi and Ernakulam city.
Book ahead: Recommended, especially high season.

Transportation:
Local travel: Auto-rickshaws, bus, and ferries are also available.
Explore around: Rent a car or hire a taxi for day trips. Ferry is an excellent way to reach different islands.

Shopping:
What to buy: Spices, handicrafts, Kathakali masks, and souvenirs.
Where to shop: Jew Town, Broadway market, and the local shops in Fort Kochi.
