KASARAGOD

The northernmost district of Kerala is often overlooked by the majority of tourists. Kasaragod is however a place which has something of everything from varied cultures, impressive landscapes to life at leisurely pace. Let's plan Day 1
Arrival & Bekal Fort
Morning: Fly into Mangalore International Airport (IXE) or Kannur International Airport (CNN)
Afternoon: Drive to your Kasaragod hotel for check-in.
Evening: Visit the majestic Bekal Fort, one of the largest and best-preserved forts in Kerala. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Arabian Sea.

Day 2: Beaches & Backwaters
Morning: Proceed to Bekal Beach, a pristine beach famous for its golden sands and calm waters.
Afternoon: Take a peaceful backwater cruise. Discover the serene canals, lush green paddy fields, and local villages.
Evening: Savor a mouth-watering seafood dinner at a beachside restaurant.

Day 3: Temples & Culture
Morning: Visit Ananthapura Lake Temple-a unique temple to Lord Vishnu.
Afternoon:  Explore Chandragiri Fort - lesser-known, but with an interesting history
Evening: Participate in the local culture - watch a traditional dance performance (available)

Day 4: Spice Gardens & Departure
Morning:  Visit spice plantation and know about the culture and processing of spices like pepper, cardamom, and cinnamon.
Afternoon: Souvenir shopping time - get spices, handicrafts, and local products.
Evening: Return to Mangalore International Airport (IXE) or Kannur International Airport (CNN).

Food:
You would love the fresh seafood. Enjoy the local food such as Karimeen Pollichathu, a dish in which the fish is baked in banana leaves, and Appam with Idiyappam.
Find some street food stalls and small local eateries serving authentic local fare.
 
Stay: Homestays and budget-friendly options will abound; resort options will also be plentiful.

Local taxis or auto-rickshaws are available for travel within the district.
You may use Ola or Uber, a ride-hailing service.

Photography: Beaches, the magnificent forts, and the serene backwaters are there to be captured.

People: Engage with the locals who are friendly and share their culture and traditions.
